Charles Eddy – A sworn translator certified and authorized to issue official translations by the Douai Court of Appeals (Heading: Translation – Specialty: H.2.2.1 English)

Legal translation is an incredibly complex task, especially when issuing an official sworn translation.

In addition to the notions and institutions attached to any particular legal system, which have to be faithfully transcribed into another, often very different system, legal translators must ensure that the message, both in form and in substance, is translated with pinpoint accuracy.

Note on the Validity of Certified Translations:

Under French law, certified translations must be completed by an expert traducteur, i.e. a sworn translator authorized to issue official translations by the Court of Appeals or the Cour de Cassation under Heading H.2. (Written Translation).

French authorities regularly refuse translations performed by translators who do not have this accreditation.

Translations valid throughout France, regardless of your place of residence

Experts traducteurs are not limited to a specific geographic area, so regardless of where you live or the location of the court or other authority that has asked you to submit a certified translation, the translation you receive from C. Eddy Traductions will be accepted.

Translations accepted abroad

Certified translations issued by French experts traducteurs are accepted throughout the European Union.

Outside of the EU, each country is free to establish its own rules, but translations issued by experts traducteurs are generally widely accepted by non-European authorities as well.

Some exceptions exist, however (such as specific national requirements applicable to certain types of translations), and you might also need to have your documents notarized or apostilled in some cases. As such, it's important to research the specific requirements for each country and situation.

Languages: English and French

As a final note, experts traducteurs are only authorized to issue certified translations for certain specific languages. For example, I can issue translations from French into English and English into French (Heading/Specialty H.2.2.1 on the list of the Court of Appeals).

For all other languages, you can contact me to be put in touch with a trusted colleague, or you can directly search for an expert traducteur in the desired language on UNETICA's website or on one of the lists made available by the different French Courts of Appeals or the Cour de Cassation.
